Dates For 2020/2021 UEW Entrance Examination

Below are the schedule dates for 2020/2021 UEW Entrance Examination. Applications are invited from qualified applicants for admission into various programmes for the 2020/2021 and 2019/2020 Academic Years:

  1. a) Subject Area Test for Special Education candidates only (SAT)

Thursday, June 4, 2020 (Paper starts at 3:00 p. m.)

  1. b) Subject Area Test for all Mature Candidates including Special Education Candidates

Friday, June 5, 2020 (Paper starts at 8:00 a. m.)

General Aptitude Test for all Mature Candidates.

Saturday, June 6, 2020 (Paper starts at 8:00)

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

These requirements are to be met in addition to the other programme-specific requirements

A.BACHELOR PROGRAMMES

  1. Senior High School (SHS) Certificate Holders
  2. Must have at least, six (6) WASSCE passes including three (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies, as well as
  3. Three (3) Electives in relevant subjects with the total aggregate of 36 or better.

iii. Must also satisfy Special Programme requirement(s) for programme(s) chosen.

  1. School Certificate/GCE Holders
  2. Five (5) credits at GCE “O” Level, including English Language and Mathematics as well as
  3. Two (2) “A” Level passes other than General Paper in relevant subjects
  4. Diploma Holders
  5. Must possess a Higher National Diploma or its equivalence from previous field or area of study.
  6. Full-Time applicants may pass an interview.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  1. Candidates opting for French as second area should have at least C6
  2. Candidates opting for English as second area should have at least C6
  3. Candidates opting for another Ghanaian language as second area should have at least C6
  4. Candidates opting for German and Linguistics need no prerequisite requirement.[/expand]

  2. WASSCE Entry Requirement

Applicants must have Credit pass (A1-C6) in FIVE (5) subjects, comprising THREE (3) Core Subjects including English Language and Mathematics, and TWO (2) Elective Subjects relevant to the programme chosen.

  1. SSSCE Entry Requirement

Applicants must have Credits (A-D) in FIVE (5) subjects, comprising THREE (3) Core Subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, and TWO (2) Elective Subjects relevant to the programme chosen.

  1. a) Other Diploma Programmes Entry Requirement
  2. WASSCE Entry Requirement
  3. i) Six passes (A1 – D7) in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics; and
  4. ii) Must possess a minimum of C6 in any three (3) of the passes relevant to the area of specialization.
  5. SSSCE Entry Requirement
  6. i) Six passes (A-D) in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics; and

B.Sc. MECHANICAL TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION

Applicants must satisfy any one of the following:

  1. WASSCE HOLDERS – Applicants must have grade A1-C6 in three (3) core subjects which are English, Core mathematics and integrated science, and three elective subjects from the following: Automotive Mechanics, Elective Mathematics, Physics, Engineering Science, Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Applied Electricity, Electronics, Metalwork, and Welding.
  2. SSSCE HOLDERS – Applicants must have Grade D or better in three core subjects which are: English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science, and three (3) Electives from the following:  Automotive Mechanics, Elective Mathematics, Physics, Engineering Science, Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Applied Electricity, Electronics, Metalwork, Welding
  3. GCE ADVANCED LEVEL HOLDERS – Applicants must have at least grade D or better in three Science subjects. They must also have credit passes (grade 6) in five (5) subjects in GCE ‘O’ Level including English, Mathematics and Science.

1.PART III HOLDERS: Applicants must be holders of

  1. a) Motor Vehicle Technicians (MVT) Part III certificate

OR

  1. b) Mechanical Engineering Technician (MET) Part III certificate

All part III applicants must pass an interview

 

  1. HND HOLDERS: Applicants must have a Higher National Diploma (HND) Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Agriculture Engineering with specialty in any one of the following options:
  2. Automotive Mechanics
  3. Plant
  4. Production
  5. Refrigeration
  6. Agricultural Mechanization
  7. MATURE APPLICANTS: Applicants who want to enter as mature candidates must not be less than twenty-five (25) years old by August of the year of enrolment and must be holders of any of the following qualifications:

Motor Vehicle Technician Part II, Mechanical Technician Part II, Advanced City and Guilds Certificate in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering, Teachers’ Diploma A (Technical Option), WASSCE OR SSSCE holders who do not qualify for direct, National Board for Professional and Technician Examinations (NABPTEX) Certificate with credit passes in SIX (6) subjects comprising THREE (3) core subjects (English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science) and THREE (3) elective subjects in relevant area.

  1. All mature applicants must pass an entrance examination comprising a Subject Area Test (SAT) and a General Aptitude Test (GAT)
  2. All applicants must indicate whether they are opting for REGULAR or DISTANCE Mode.

 

B.SC. AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION

(Full Time And Sandwich)

Applicants must satisfy any one of the following:

  1. WASSCE HOLDERS – Applicants must have grade A1-C6 in three (3) core subjects which are English, Core mathematics and integrated science, and three elective subjects from the following: Automotive Mechanics, Elective Mathematics, Physics, Engineering Science, Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Applied Electricity, Electronics, Metalwork, and Welding.

WASSCE HOLDERS – Applicants must have grade A1-C6 in three (3) core subjects which are English, Core mathematics and Integrated Science, and three elective subjects from the following: Elective Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering Science, Technical Drawing, Applied Electricity, Electronics, Metalwork, Welding.

 

  1. SSSCE HOLDERS – Applicants must have Grade D or better in three core subjects which are: English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science, and three (3) Electives from the following:  Elective Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering Science, Technical Drawing, Applied Electricity, Electronics, Metalwork, Welding.

 

  1. GCE ADVANCED LEVEL HOLDERS – Applicants must have at least grade D or better in three Science subjects. They must also have credit passes (grade 6) in five (5) subjects in GCE ‘O’ Level including English, Mathematics and Science.

1.PART III HOLDERS: Applicants must be holders of Electrical Engineering Technicians (EET) Part III certificate

All EET Part III applicants must pass an interview

 

  1. HND HOLDERS: Applicants must have a Higher National Diploma (HND) Certificate in Electrical/Electronics with specialty in any one of the following options:

  3. Telecommunication

Successful HND applicants would be placed at Level 200. However, those with a class below 2nd Lower will be placed at level 100

 

  1. MATURE APPLICANTS: Applicants who want to enter as mature candidates must not be less than twenty-five (25) years old by August of the year of enrolment and must be holders of any of the following qualifications

 

  1. Electrical Engineering Technician Part II

OR

  1. Advanced City and Guilds Certificate in Electrical Engineering

OR

iii. Electrical Installation Work, Course C

OR

  1. Teachers Certificates A (Technical Option)

OR

  1. WASSCE OR SSSCE holders who do not qualify for direct entry but are 25 years of age

 

Please Note the following:

  1. All mature applicants must pass an entrance examination comprising a Subject Area Test (SAT) and a General Aptitude Test (GAT)

B.SC. CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION

(Full Time And Sandwich)

Applicants must satisfy any one of the following:

  1. WASSCE HOLDERS – Applicants must have grade A1-C6 in three (3) core subjects which are English, Core mathematics and Integrated Science, and three elective subjects from the following: Building Construction, Wood work, Elective Mathematics, Physics, Engineering Science, Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Applied Electricity.
  2. SSSCE HOLDERS – Applicants must have Grade D or better in three core subjects which are: English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science, and three (3) Electives from the following: Building Construction, Wood work, Elective Mathematics, Physics, Engineering Science, Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Applied Electricity.
  3. GCE ADVANCED LEVEL HOLDERS–Applicants must have at least grade D or better in three Science subjects. They must also have credit passes (grade 6) in five (5) subjects in GCE ‘O’ Level including English, Mathematics and Science.
  4. PART III HOLDERS: Applicants must be holders of Construction Technician Part III certificate.
  5. HND HOLDERS: Applicants must have a Higher National Diploma (HND) Certificate in Building Construction or Civil Engineering.

Successful HND applicants would be placed at Level 200. However, those with a class below 2nd Lower will be placed at level 100.

 

  1. MATURE APPLICANTS: Applicants who want to enter as mature candidates must not be less than twenty-five (25) years old by August of the year of enrollment and must be holders of any of the following qualifications
  2. Advanced City and Guilds Certificate in Block work and Concreting

OR

  1. Diploma in Basic Education (Colleges of Education)

OR

  1. Teachers Certificates A (Technical Option)

OR

iii. WASSCE OR SSSCE holders who do not qualify for direct entry but are 25 years of age.

SSSCE HOLDERS – Applicants must have Grade D or better in three core subjects which are: English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science, and three (3) Electives from the following:  Wood work, Furniture Design, Elective Mathematics, Physics, Engineering Science, Chemistry, Technical Drawing.

 

  1. GCE ADVANCED LEVEL HOLDERS–Applicants must have at least grade D or better in three Science subjects. They must also have credit passes (grade 6) in five (5) subjects in GCE ‘O’ Level including English, Mathematics and Science.

 

  1. PART III HOLDERS: Applicants must be holders of Construction Technician Part III certificate.

Mature Applicants

  1. Must be at least, 25 years by September 1, 2020.
  2. Should have a minimum of a GCE/SSSCE/WASSCE Certificate/ DBS or RSA certificate.

iii. Must pass the UEW Entrance Exam in General Aptitude Test (GAT) and Subject Area Test (SAT)

 

B.SC. CATERING AND HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT EDUCATION

(Full Time and Sandwich)

An applicant must have one of the following categories of entry requirements:

(a) Credit Passes (WASSCE A1-C6 or SSSCE A-D) in three (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science; plus a Credit passes (WASSCE A1 C6 or SSSCE A-D) in three (3) Elective subjects, including Food and Nutrition and any two (2) of the following: Management in Living, Textiles, Clothing and Textiles, General Knowledge in Art, Chemistry, Economics, Biology, and General Agriculture.

 

(b) Mature Applicants

Applicants must be at least 25 year by 1st September and have any of the following qualifications:

  • Advanced Cookery Certificate (Cookery 812/2) or its equivalent
  • GCE “O” and “A” Levels
  • Advanced Cookery Certificate (Cookery 812/2) or its equivalent
  • Teacher’s Certificate “A” or Teacher’s Diploma in the  relevant   subject area
  • Applicants must pass a written entrance examination.

 

(c) Higher National Diploma (HND) Certificate Holders

Applicants must:

  • Have a good HND Certificate (at least 2nd Class Lower Division) or its equivalent in Catering
  • Have acquired a 2-year post-HND qualification working experience
  • Pass an interview

 

BSc. FASHION DESIGN AND TEXTILES EDUCATION

(Full Time and Sandwich)

(a)        Credit Passes (WASSCE A1-C6 or SSSCE A-D) in three8 (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science; plus a Credit passes (WASSCE A1-C6 or SSSCE A-D) in Clothing & Textiles or Textiles, and any two of the following other Elective subjects: Management in Living, General Knowledge in Art, Graphic Design, Economics, Leather Work,

 

(b) Mature Applicant

Applicant must be at least 25 years by 1st September, a holder of the following qualifications and pass a written entrance examination:

  • Advanced Fashion Certificate (Must pass a written entrance exams)
  • GCE “O” and “A” Level (Must pass a written entrance exams)
  • Teachers’ Certificate “A”
  • Teacher’s Diploma in the relevant subject area
  • Applicants must pass a written entrance examination.

 

(c) Post-Diploma Applicants

Applicants must have a Higher National Diploma (HND) Certificate (at least a Second Class Lower Division) or its equivalent in the following disciplines

  • Fashion Design and Textiles Studies
  • Textiles
