Coronavirus: Government recruits School of Hygiene students to help fight COVID-19

The Government of Ghana through the local government service is recruiting all Environmental Health Officer and Assistants who completed their course of study at the Schools of Hygiene in Accra, Tamale and Ho from 2010 to 2019 are set to be posted to the local government service.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by Mr James Oppong Mensah, the Acting Chief Director of the Local Government Service.

The Local Government Office further stated that the approval for this posting is to augment existing capacity to improve the implementation of environmental health and sanitation policies, plans and programmes in the country.

The graduates of the Schools of Hygiene have therefore been directed to visit the Local Government Service’s website www.lgs.gov.gh and complete the information form and upload a scanned copy of their certificate (PDF format) to facilitate the process.

Due to the current pandemic, There is the need to train more health workers and environmental officers to contain the spread of the coronavirus. The government of Ghana through the ministry of health is recruiting more students of School of hygiene to become environmental officers help halt the spread of Environmental sanitation problems and help fight COVID-19 virus.
